The decision, approved by the Board of Directors on January 20, 2022, underscores IGIS Asset Management’s proactive approach to integrating ESG principles into its corporate and investment strategies.

ESG Committee: Strengthening Top-Level ESG Governance

The newly established ESG Committee will operate as a subcommittee within the Board of Directors, tasked with reviewing and approving corporate ESG policies and major ESG-related initiatives.

The committee consists of three board members. Hyun-Seok Lee, Professor at Konkuk University’s Graduate School of Real Estate, serves as Chairman. Seyoon Oh, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Woowa Brothers (Baemin), and Donghoon Shin, Head of Domestic Asset Management (KAM) at IGIS Asset Management, are also part of the committee.

Bottom-Up ESG Culture: Empowering Employees for Meaningful Impact

Unlike traditional top-down ESG initiatives, IGIS Asset Management is prioritizing practical implementation over formal declarations. The firm’s ESG strategy will be driven from the ground up, with employees playing a key role in shaping and executing ESG initiatives.

To facilitate this, IGIS is enhancing its internal ESG Operations Committee, expanding both its membership and decision-making authority. This committee will serve as a collaborative platform for employees to drive ESG initiatives and align company-wide efforts. Additionally, a dedicated ESG team will be launched to assess ESG compliance in new investments and oversee ongoing ESG-related initiatives.

Recognized Leadership in ESG Investing

IGIS Asset Management has been consistently recognized for its commitment to sustainable investing, having received GRESB’s highest "Five-Star" rating for four consecutive years since 2018. The firm’s ESG performance was evaluated based on its corporate ESG policies and the sustainability initiatives at Auto Way Tower, one of its flagship assets.

Auto Way Tower utilizes a real-time energy diagnostics web service to monitor resource consumption and carbon emissions, reinforcing its position as a leading green building.

Furthermore, the number of IGIS-managed assets recognized as internationally certified green buildings continues to grow. As of last year, 12 properties have obtained LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, including five newly certified buildings in 2021 under the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) standards.
