“The spaces we create must exist in harmony with the environment.”

This phrase was frequently heard at IGIS Asset Management in 2021, the year we became the first asset management company in Korea to issue an ESG bond. As ESG was emerging as a global priority in the financial sector, we took the initiative domestically, believing in the potential of finance to drive environmental progress. One of the key sites where this belief has taken shape is Jeju.

Most recently, our Chief Executive Officer Kyusung (Joseph) Lee was awarded honorary citizenship of Jeju. Officials from the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province visited our headquarters to express their appreciation for our contributions to public interest initiatives and the promotion of Jeju as a destination for workcations. This honorary title is granted to individuals from outside Jeju who have made long-term contributions to the island’s development. The recognition reflects IGIS Asset Management’s sustained engagement with and commitment to the region.

Planting Forests, Laying Foundations for Growth

In August 2024, IGIS Asset Management signed an agreement with the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province to support the creation of an urban forest.

Urban forests serve as ecological buffers, helping to mitigate urban heat islands and reduce fine dust and noise. The Cheomdan Urban Forest, funded by IGIS, was established on a 2,230㎡ site within the Third Jeongpyeong Neighborhood Park in Jeju City. IGIS is the only corporate partner from outside the province, making this a meaningful example of interregional collaboration.

In the same year, we launched a 10MW energy storage system (ESS) project in Hallim-eup in partnership with LS Electric. This initiative is expected to play a critical role in enhancing local energy independence and achieving carbon neutrality.

We are also working with Hanwha Group to develop a KRW 1.7 trillion large-scale eco-forest resort complex in Aewol-eup. Through such forward-looking projects, IGIS continues to reinforce the infrastructure and vision needed for regional progress.

Rooted in People, Growing with Communities

IGIS Asset Management’s relationship with Jeju goes beyond physical development—it extends to the connections between people and community.

Since 2022, our workcation program has enabled more than 250 employees each year to blend work and rest while staying in regions such as Seongsan, Sehwa, and Sagye. While in Jeju, they actively engage with local businesses and shared workspaces, helping to energize the local economy and fostering day-to-day interactions with the community.

In parallel, we have built long-term partnerships with public interest organizations in the region— including the Innisfree Foundation—shifting our focus beyond short-term sponsorships to a more sustainable ecosystem for social contribution.

IGIS Asset Management will continue to broaden its efforts to create meaningful, lasting relationships with Jeju’s people, nature, and communities. End.
